do a vmkping with specifying the vmkernel-Port on which you do iscsi: vmkping -I vmkX 192.168.100.10

is the firewall-config correct ? port 3260 open ?

Hi IamAshwin7,

I have a same problem, but I didn't find a way to set  group policy to disable the Windows eventvwr service.

Cloud you provide the setting steps?

Thank you very much!

Thanks francwalter !

This solved the issue I had too ( on Ubuntu 18.04LTS and 20.04 LTS). I won't have to disable/enable shared folders at every reboot !

Any idea why configuring that in fstab would solve the issue ?

RVTools Heartbeat column meaning

$

Hello,

Yesterday I pulled a RVtools report from our customers vsphere. I noticed that on the first tab, vInfo column Heartbeat there is showing different colors alert for every vm, many of them showing red, but also yellow, gray and green, Is there anything I should be concerned about?

Thanks,

When will vSphere/ESXi support Native NVMeoF ?

$

According to this NVMeoF | vSphere 7 Core Storage | VMware

VMware NVMeoF

"ESXi emulates NVMeoF targets as SCSI targets internally"

So, I'm assuming this is the same shortcut MS use in 2016/2019. This negatively impacts Latency/CPU/Performance.

I was under the impression that ESXi7 would contain a new (alternative) I/O stack that eliminated SCSI alltogether (Native NVMeoF).

Assigned appstack not attaching.

I am not able to attach and appstack to the user.

1. I tried refresh of the machine.

2. Sign out and sign in of the user.

3. The appstack vmdk not attaching to the VM in Vcenter.

4. In the AppVolume console, its showing assigned, but not attached. Other 2 appstacks are attaching without any issues.

Please help, its urgent

It seems it's working now, in On-premise AD, changed UPN from domain.local to domain.com and it worked.

Thanks a lot !

Hi bewe,

The ping is successful with the vmk0 as it is the only vmk on the esxi server.

[root@esxicomp1:~] vmkping -I vmk0 192.168.100.10

PING 192.168.100.10 (192.168.100.10): 56 data bytes

64 bytes from 192.168.100.10: icmp_seq=0 ttl=127 time=0.855 ms

64 bytes from 192.168.100.10: icmp_seq=1 ttl=127 time=1.595 ms

64 bytes from 192.168.100.10: icmp_seq=2 ttl=127 time=1.645 ms

--- 192.168.100.10 ping statistics ---

3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0% packet loss

round-trip min/avg/max = 0.855/1.365/1.645 ms

The firewall config is the same for all networks, no special configuration was done, I still opened port 3260 on the firewall and tried again, did not work.

Thanks..

Connect multiple vcenter using powercli

I am running  powershell script to get vm status on multiple vcenters around 18 VC.

This script is scheduled for every 5 min to run using windows schedule task.

Every time when it runs , technical it connect all my vcenters and disconnect at the end.

I want to change the flow, I want to connect all vc one time and it should be stay connected until next reboot. So that my schedule job no need to connect all vc on every 5 min when it run the job

is any way to archive this or suggestion to fulfill the requirement By this way I don’t need to connect all vcenter on every 5 min.

Thanks Scott,

I guess I could in the end, but I'd prefer not have to use static ip addresses if I can avoid it.

I was able to create a new Port Group for VM Network, and assign a new Virtual Switch to it that is attached to NIC 1. So now, I'm relieved of having all my VM's assigned 10.0.1.xxx addresses, and now faced with having 169.254.xxx.xxx addresses, which I assume are being assigned by the vmware server because all my VM's are set up to obtain their ip addresses automatically.

Any idea where to go from here?

Re: Apple T2 chip and creating virtual machines using Hypervisor

ESXi 6.7 U2 was recently released, and this release massively improves our handling of the T2 chip.  Give it a try!

See the blog post here for details and some important caveats: https://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2020/04/update-on-esxi-on-apple-mac-mini-2018-mac-pro-2019.html

Note that the latest Macmini and Mac Pro systems are still not on our official hardware compatibility list, and there are still some wrinkles as described in that article, most notably that the internal SSD is still not usable and 10GbE NICs require installation of an additional driver.

Thanks,

The solution was to simply disconnect and reconnect hosts, once I found the root password.

Upgrade vCenter Server 6.0 U3i from Windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2 Best Practice

Currently we have a Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine running as vCenter Server and are looking for ways to move to Windows 2012 R2. The vCenter Server is running version 6.0.0 U3i

You instead should be looking at upgrading vCenter to use the appliance (vCSA), for three very important reasons:

  1. Your Windows OS is now unsupported.
  2. Your version of vSphere (6.0) is now unsupported.
  3. Windows-based vCenter is now gone. The vCSA is the only path forward.

Your next step should be doing an upgrade/migration from Windows 6.0 to vCSA on at least 6.5 if not later.
